About the Philips Actinic BL TL-D
The Philips Actinic BL TL-D range is the industry standard UV-A tube for electronic fly killers (EFKs), insect light traps and fly killer units used in commercial kitchens, food production facilities, restaurants and hospitality venues. These T8 tubes (26mm diameter, G13 base) emit UV-A radiation peaking at approximately 350nm, which precisely matches the eye sensitivity of moving houseflies, attracting more insects and covering a larger area than standard BL or /09-type lamps.
Three product tiers are available: standard Actinic BL for general use; MASTER Actinic BL (recognisable by the green cap) which uses optimised phosphor technology for improved UV-A maintenance and longer lifetime, and contains only 3mg of mercury; and Secura (recognisable by blue tape) with a shatterproof sleeve that keeps all glass and components together in case of accidental lamp breakage, eliminating the risk of glass splinters in food products.
The TL-DK variants are PTFE-coated shatterproof tubes for food-safe environments, available in 25W and 36W. The TL-DK 36W Secura (9280 198 010 03) is the Pelsis TPX36-24 cross-reference.
